F13 - Day of Action
The Scapegoat

PIA contributed to the F13 campaign with creative street actions and the presentation of “the scapegoat”, accompanied by the “armpit of evil” (“Achsel des Bösen”) in Jannuary 2006.PIA roamed the streets of Vienna to collect your sins and inspire people with 13 sayings for a better world. Finally, the cumulative charge of badness was read out and brought back where it all belongs: from the margin of society to its centre! We want your sins!

Theater for the blind and other people

PIA supports the theater production “die heilige 3faltigkeit (OT: Eden) - a theater for blind and other people which is performed November and December 2005 in Vienna, Austria. PIA promotes this project since it offers people with special needs to experience theatre. For the “seeing” the production represents an equally valuable chance to learn more about the perception of blind people. Focus of this theater project directed by Elsayed Kandil is to promote theatre for blind people, raise consciousness for the socio-cultural isolation of this stigmatized group in our societies and offer alternatives.
Theater as a mirror for social tendencies and conflicts: O’Brians piece eden deals with the incapacity to communicate in our age of communication-technology, choosing the example of a married couple. He portrays the muteness between the former lovers out of which misunderstandings, conflicts, loneliness and aggression rise. The protagonists of the piece feel helpless and lack courage to act and talk. Communication requires commitment, motivation and strength, which the characters in the piece have lost long ago. The main themes are the human relationship and the yearning for love – both topics that are omnipresent and relevant – weather somebody hears, sees, or not.

DRESS YOUR DREAMS –
Fair fashion in collaboration with 2B and Balance

"Dress Your Dreams" is a creative arts project in cooperation with special needs people in Austria and Peru, which permits cross-cultural exchange and empowerment.

The workshop participants are employed by the NGO “Balance”, an association for integration and equal opportunities for persons with special needs. They print their own artistic motives on 2B shirts which are then produced and traded in a fair way. “Silk screen presses” needed for the printing process are constructed within the workshop and specially adapted for the participants. The motives and statements relate closely to the personal situation of the artist, telling part of their story.
